What musical instrument am I?
Answer to last Wednesday's instrument: vibraphone
The vibraphone is a member of the percussion family. The vibraphone is used in jazz and classical music. To play the vibraphone a player will push down the foot pedal and use 2-4 mallets to hit the keys.
Here is an example of what the vibraphone sounds like:

Great instruments. Happy WW! Come link with me.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an electric violin (e.g., a zeta), but it has one too many strings.

Mammoth Mountains
Did you get a new masthead? It is great! I don't remember it being like that before, but I may be spacing...
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming back and commenting. I always love to hear from you.
And, I want to report that Red Rover's first piano lesson went beyond great. The teacher is so positive. RR practices without being asked every day. He wishes he had lessons every day. I'm sure the enthusiasm will die down, but it is fun to watch for now :).
Hmmm it looks like a violin, but where would the sound resonate?
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteStop by my WW for a picture of the morning after!

Looks like a violin but I have no idea.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love how you've combined the wordless part from the previous week and made it wordful. The "what am I" for this week looks like some crazy modernistic violin.
ReplyDeletei actually played the vibrophone in HS marching band when i was sidelined for injury...you had no idea that could happen in marching band, did you? the injury was totally unrelated, but this post brought a rush of memories back since my instrument of choice was the piccolo and secondary, the flute!
ReplyDeletethis post inspires me to add another instrument to our daily recipe of life...
ReplyDeleteOh, I should ask my BIL - he would know - I have no clue - again!!
ReplyDeleteVEry nice.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an abstract artist decided to get his hands on a Stradivarius. Bad abstract art, bad. The vibraphone must have been a Fred Roger's staple.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing an electric violin. I really think I am going to get this one right! Hee Hee!
ReplyDeleteGreat site! I'm glad you visited my site. I am going to follow your blog. I am also putting a link on my music blog site to yours. And I am going to do a little post on my "everything" blog to my homeschooling readers about your blog. (Just click on my profile if you want to look at either blog again.)
ReplyDeleteWow! You are quick on the draw! I hadn't even had a chance to do my posting and you already commented back on mine! I just posted on my music site. You'll have to check back in a couple of days on my other site if you want to see what I say there about you. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know what the heck that is, but I bet is makes a pretty cool sound. I'll have to check back and find out.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments on Octamom Sighting! I do plan on getting that one in the scrapbooks!
Keep thinking about your Alaska weather, my dh is down at our coast house getting plywood over the windows for Hurricane Ike--I am particularly longing for cooler climes!!!
Blessings!
I love that electric violin! My former violin teacher actually builds those. He is well known - Mark Wood.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like it's too big to be an electric violin, so maybe an electric bass?
