Songs for Children: On Top of Spaghetti

On Top of Spaghetti

On top of spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
I lost my poor meatball,
When somebody sneezed.
It rolled off the table,
And on to the floor,
And then my poor meatball,
Rolled out of the door.
It rolled in the garden,
And under a bush,
And then my poor meatball,
Was nothing but mush.
The mush was as tasty
As tasty could be,
And then the next summer,
It grew into a tree.
The tree was all covered,
All covered with moss,
And on it grew meatballs,
And tomato sauce.
So if you eat spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatball,
Whenever you sneeze.

  1. Wow, you just took me way back. My sister and I loved this song when we were little. We used to crack up laughing and could hardly sing some parts.
Thanks for bringing it back to mind.

  7. I meant to say maybe it was MY singing!

I'm the one in the family others are least likely to enjoy hearing!

  9. Hey, thanks for the comment on my blog! Looks like you've got a pretty fun blog here...I'll have to come back, especially after I played my 14-month-old boy (the one who tears books off of shelves:) the video in this post. He begged to sit on my lap in front of the computer and smiled and laughed through the whole thing -- without even once banging on the keyboard which, seriously, has to be some sort of record. :) Have a lovely day!
