Fridge Phonics by Leap Frog

I recently bought Fridge Phonics by Leap Frog after hearing friends say how great it is. Fridge Phonics is a durable and magnetic letter reader that sticks to your refrigerator. It comes with all the letters of the alphabet, and it will sing the names and the sounds of the letters when you press the letters in the letter reader. Fridge Phonics also sings the ABC song.

I really like fridge phonics because it teaches my child the alphabet in a fun and new way.
The only negative thing I can say about Fridge Phonics is that the ABC song is to fast for children who are first learning how to sing it. I would like Fridge Phonics better if Leap Frog made a setting to play the ABC song slow, medium, and fast. Then, children could learn the song (and each letter) really well at the slow speed and then work their way up to the fast speed.

You can learn more about Fridge Phonics here.

  1. My kids have enjoyed Leap Frog toys too, but they were before this toy's time.

Every diaper change I would sing the alphabet song and count to 20 (and repeat as necessary) to engage and distract Baby from what I was doing. I think they both knew the song before they were capable of repeating it with me.

  4. I have that and I love it. Belle learned her ABC's just by playing with it.

  5. WE LOVE THIS!!!! We even bought the pack of lowercase letters. The song can get a little annoying if your kids are really sitting tehre playing with it for longer periods of time, but it's catchy and fun and my middle child picked up on his letters REALLY quickly thanks to this handy dandy little fridge toy. AND I have a bazillion magnets now for holding up art projects on the fridge. Two in one toy! woo hoo!

  7. I've never seen this...how cute! And good suggestion about a slow/medium/fast control - that would probably help a lot of the little ones learn.

  11. My daughter, now age 4, has been playing with hers for years. I believe it really helped her when she was learning her letters. My son is now getting into them - a fantastic toy. :)

  15. Hi - I hope you don't mind me commenting on your blog - when I clicked on your link it led me straight here. I usually check my blog often but we have been out of town this weekend so I wanted to answer your question about short hair.

When my little girl's hair was growing - I was always doing different things. I would just simplify it. So any of these things that you see that go into pony tails or pig tails - I would have just done the top part, without throwing the rest into pony tails. I wish I had a little girl to show you. Maybe I can go through old pictures & post them when she was little.

Thanks for all your nice comments! I really appreciate it & if you have ANY other questions - please let me know.

By the way - I LOVE your blog!! How sweet is that?

  16. I started with the single letter Leap frog fridge toy, and now I have a three letter fridge toy. The letters are compatible with both toys. The three letter toy allows your kids to create simple words. The only drawback I've found is the same for all magnetic letters ... they get lost under the fridge or other impossible to reach places. Buy an extra set of letters and hide them until the first set is down to z, t and y.

  17. my mom likes it because the phonetics are correct, without adding an "uh" sound to the consonants, like "b says b" instead of "b says buh" Sam never had a problem with the speed of the ABC song, but we've sung it a lot around here.

  18. My daughter loved this toy too. She learned her ABCs and sounds from it as well. Recently we bought her the one with 3 letters where you can make simple words. She likes that one just as much, but doesn't realize yet that she's reading the word, or creating the word. :) But she'll get there.
